Bio
LaRoyce Hawkins
LaRoyce Hawkins is an actor, comedian, spoken word artist and musician from Harvey, Illinois. He starred as Officer Kevin Atwater on NBC’s Chicago P.D. for thirteen seasons, exiting early in Season 14, and earned an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He frequently crossed over to Chicago Med and Chicago Fire.
He landed his first major film role in college, as Art Baker in The Express: The Ernie Davis Story (2008). Other film credits include Hope Springs Eternal, Canal Street, The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain, BET+’s North of the 10 and Beyond the Likes. He appears in Marvel’s Ironheart and HBO Max’s South Side, and produced and stars in 93 ’Til.
Off camera he hosts, performs stand-up and poetry, and makes music. He founded Be Powerful, a purpose-driven apparel brand and initiative, and served as the Salvation Army’s Celebrity Kettle Ambassador, a campaign that won an Emmy. He lives in Chicago.
